Yep, I'm about to tell you how Oreo's Pet Palace was started. Your girl messed around and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer! You're probably like what the hell does this have to do with an online pet store. Well, I'm about to tell you!
My first Chemo was a little rough and I chose to stay at my parent's house until I knew what to expect. I slept for five days but not only that I woke up one night in pain, well the pain woke me up out of my sleep. I made my way from upstairs to downstairs and from the couch to the kitchen floor. I was the only one up and my Mother's dog, "Munchie."
Munchie followed me from all those rooms and ended up sitting in the doorway of the kitchen, while I cried and rocked in pain. She wanted to make sure I was ok. But, It helped me feel like I wasn't alone in that moment and it really melted my heart. It got me to thinking that I wanted my own little dog to watch over me at my house while I was going through this Cancer journey and eventually remission. My own forever friend.
I thought about it for weeks, I searched online for about one week, and then I found this site that led me to finally finding my fur baby. I was excited that I was about to get an emotional support animal/pet for myself and my children. My brother and I drove all the way to Sugarcreek, OH (3.5 hr drive). We waited about 6 hours for the breeder to arrive. But, it was worth the wait! When I first seen him I knew he was for me. As soon as I got him home, my daughter said, "Hi Oreo, he looks like an Oreo!" and that's how he got his name.
But, it's more to the story! Oreo's Pet Palace was named after my own pet but the site was birthed from necessity. I wasn't able to work my business as a photographer due to the side effects of Chemo. So, I started a GoFundMe and Oreo's Pet Palace. I started this business in three days from my bed and in less than one week the site was created. I knew that I needed another source of income that didn't involve me physically working. Plus, I could relate because I love animals and have pets of my own. So, it only made sense.
